There should be a small hex screw or pin that prevents the ignition cylinder from spinning. It is unusual that these would break on their own. It is usually caused by trying to force the cylinder with a screw driver, or vise grip.(Has your car been broken into?)
Anyway; If your cylinder is spinning, the contacts are most likely misaligned. Remove the plastic shroud from around the cylinder area. There should be a small hole just beneath the cylinder in the cast aluminum cylinder housing. Stick a small finish nail or large paper clip into the hole and gently wiggle and pull the cylinder out. Check to see if there are broken parts. If there is replace the cylinder. If not, see if you can replace the pin that broke or fell out. A good sign that your cylinder is on it's way out is when you can remove the key in the "Run Position"
Also; I recommend you find yourself another locksmith!
