car overheating

1995 FORD PROBE
4 CYL • FWD • AUTOMATIC

My 95 ford probe is over heating. when it starts to get hot the heater starts to blow cold air then I shut off the heater and the temp goes back to normal. Oct.10 i had a new head put in, new radiator, new battery, new starter. I have checked the water and oil-both are full.

did this only start happening when you tried to use the heater?
