I have a 95 Escort Stationwagon, I replaced the serpentine belt two days ago because it broke and was slamming all over, the only way I noticed it really. Well, I was driving it home after it was repaired and it started smoking under the hood but I didnt know where from, but today I had no heat. It wasn't over heating, just blowing out cold air with a funny smell, what could be wrong with it?

STILL GOT A BELT....NOW????!!!!

NEW ONE INSTALLED BY COMPETENT PERSONELL?

DID YOU TURN ON THE A/C OR DEFROST AFTER YOU LEFT THE INSTALL SCENE?

MAYBE YOUR A/C COMPRESSOR IS LOCKED UP (AND HAS BEEN)

WHEN YOU ACTIVATE A/C OR DEFROST, THE A/C CLUTCH KICKS IN (IT JUST FREEWHEELS, TILL YOU DO THIS)

WHEN IT KICKS IN, THE A/C COMPRESSOR "SHOULD TURN" NORMALLY--IF IT IS LOCKED UP, IT CANNOT TURN...YOU BURN THE BELT OFF AGAIN!!!!

OTHER ITEMS COULD LOCK UP TOO!!!

MY SCENARIO, WOULD EXPLAIN THE "NO PROBLEMS"....UNTIL A/C OR DEFROST WERE ACTIVATED.

BEST CHECK FOR SOMETHING NOT TURNING, AND THE PRESENCE OF A "SERVICEABLE BELT"

THE "NO HEAT" MAY BE FROM THE WATER PUMP NOT BEING DRIVEN BY THE BELT, OR IT'S LOCKED UP.

THINGS SOMETIMES HAPPEN, NOT EVEN RELATED TO A FIX 5 MINUTES BEFORE!

YOUR TURN
