1995 Ford Bronco Distributor pick-up sensor

How do I replace the sending unit in the distributor? Does the destibutor need to be removed to do it?

Not only does it have to be removed but it has to be entirely disassembled and the shaft removed. That's nearly impossible without breaking something as the gear at the bottom has to be removed.
