Car will not start

car engine light on one week prior, car will not run now. Will try to turn over and back fire, could it be ignition coil? 1995 Chrysler New Yorker

it couldbe anything get the engine scanned to find out what went on in the first place. it probably failed altogether and now it won't run.

Not likely. When the Check Engine light turns on, there will be a diagnostic fault code stored in the Engine Computer. Have those codes read. Many auto parts stores will do that for you for free. They will lead you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily the defective part.
