how many wires go to the alternator and to the battery.is the a wire goes straight for battery to alt on a 95 chev seira

A fat wire goes from the generator to the battery positive cable. A small brown wire plugs in. It comes from the dash warning light and is the turn-on signal that tells the built-in voltage regulator to wake up and do its thing.
