when ignition switch turned off does the clock remain lit? Having trouble with the battery being drained on a truck recently purchased, is OK if we disconnect battery cables.

The clock should not remain on. On some radio models it will light up for a few seconds with the ignition switch off if you press the volume knob. Check for the proper "click" feel of that knob. If it is not sticking, there is something wrong in the radio that is keeping the display lit.
