My 1995 Z-71 will crank over fine, but it will not try to start so I tried to run trouble codes on it. Just under the steering wheel where you plug in a code reader I put a jumper wire from terminal A to B and then from the jumper wire I ran a wire to ground. When I turn the ignition switch on the fuel pump comes on and then when i engage the ignition the truck starts easy and will keep running as long as I hold the ground to a good ground that i connected to my jumper wire, but the very second that I take my ground up the truck my die.

just jump from a&b and turn key on and watch flashes of service light that will give you codes. they go in series of three. do not put another ground wire then go to OBD1 on site here and retrieive your codes for your engine size.

Yes i did jump A to B and the only code that flashes is a 12. I watched it flash 12 about 10 times. The thing is when I have A to B jumped it will not fire and the fuel pump will not come on, but I can go from the A to B jumper and run one to ground and the truck will start right up, but the second I disconnect the jumper to ground it will die. Then I can touch it back to ground and it will start back up again.

then check to see if your fuel pump relay is getting ground then it's at left front of engine. also if this is a heavy duty there is also a module that runs pump that canbe bad and will need scanning.
