This is something that should be checked by a mechanic to insure there's no safety issue involved. Some chain stores like Sears used to offer free or low-cost brake system inspections. The cause could be as simple as a partially-sticking parking brake cable. That will cause rapid wear of the brake linings on that wheel.
Given the age of the vehicle, a brake shoe return spring could have rusted apart. That is about as inexpensive a repair as you're going to find, but usually by the time that happens, it's time for new brakes too.
There are a number of other possible causes of brake system noises, and some are just annoying while some are warnings of an impending failure.
