My 1995 Chevy 1500 4x4 350 automatic will not start unless I pump the gas pedal. If I get it to start, I have to keep my foot on the gas enough to keep 2500+ rpms. If it goes below 2500 rpms the engine shuts down. While it is running it sounds fine, but quits as soon as I release the gas pedal...even if I do it very slowly. My initial thought is the fuel pump, but wouldn't the truck not run at all if it was the fuel pump? I don't have the ability to read a fault code at my house and I can't drive it anywhere to have it done. I need an old fashioned answer. It did start this issue after I ran the gas tank empty.
