1995 Chevrolet Corsica engine running at full throttle

My sons 95 Corsica 2.2L revs a little slow then cuts in and out at full throttle, revving then drops 1000-1500 rpm then revs again. He told me it happened all of a sudden. It started, then he filled it with gas and it continued. We installed new plugs, wires and air filter less than 5000 miles ago. I just changed the fuel filter yesterday. It has an OBD 1 plug under the dash but there are only 3 wires going to it, so I couldn't get any codes from it, and the check engine light has not come on. The EGR valve moves freely. I don't hear any vacuum leaks. What would cause this issue

Cross a&b with a paper clip and watch engine light for codes series of three lik 1 then 2 check fuelpressure should be 41-47psi if lower pump problem maybe

I can't get the codes because the ALDL connector only has 2 positions that have connectors A, M right side upper and lower. I have read that you need a special scanner to read codes on this version. I guess I will have to buy a fuel pressure gauge that connects at the filter. Any ideas if it is not the fuel pressure?
