my 95 chevy corsica had a serpentine belt tensioner replaced and soon as i got in a started driving it the engine light came on and it died

This sounds strange. You need to contact the place that did the work and have them figure it out.
They might have put the wrong belt on, or it might have been routed incorrectly. It might have fallen off.
They also might have knocked something loose when they were replacing it.
