I have a Chevrolet 95 corsica, It has had intermittent stalling for awhile, now it won't start at all. I replaced the IAC valve had no effect, except that it seemed to make it worse so I put theo old one back.
It's battery seems to not hold a charge either, is it the alternator? How can I diagnose this car please, sure I can fix it if only I knew what it was.

First, fully charge the battery and have it load tested at a parts store. If it passes a load test, then (if the car doesn't run) remove the alternator and have it checked.
See if a full charged battery allows the engine to start. If it does, chances are that is the running issue. If it still doesn't start, check to make sure the engine is getting spark and fuel.
Let me know what you find.

Is there anyway I could do this myself? I can't afford to even move it right now.

As far as doing it yourself, you can get directions from the how to / do it yourself site on our home page. However, the parts stores usually do it for free with hopes of selling you a new part.
