Hey got a question, hopefully someone can help.I have got a 95 Blazer LS and the person who had it had a aftermarket stereo system in it. When he took the stereo out I am assuming he just yanked the wires apart where he had it spliced together and now I have 2 sets of wires. 1 set (7 wires) coming from under the dash and 1 set (5 wires) coming from ignition harness, k now the ignition harness wires are as follows ---> pink-n-white, white, orange, orange, purple, gray, gray-n-black. And now the wires from under the dash is as follows > white, brown, orange, purple, purple. I have gone through Chilton's / Haynes books and scoured the internet etc, but I myself don't understand on how to read the diagrams I have come up with. Its getting frustrating as heck. Need these wires hooked up the right way because they affect Brake, Tail Lights and Power Seat, Mirrors Etc. With out everything hooked up right we are unable to get a inspection sticker. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance.

There are many wires that have the same color but at different location and unless you are able to tell us the socket it is connected, I am afraid you might get everything wrong.

Are the wires from the ignition switch connected to anything? Are you able to start and run vehicle?

You mentioned having wiring schematics, do you have the one in question?

Thanks for ur quick response. When I brought the vechicle home it did start up and run. Run great in fact. But the brake lights in back of vechicle was stuck on all the time. With blazer going or without going. So I looked and found the wires were half undone.I wanted to clean it up some and reconnect everything nice and neat. So there wouldnt be any shorts or nothing in it. There is no connectors what so ever underneath where the ignition harness joins into the wires under the dash. These wires under dash is like halfway down the steering column(but not on it) in back almost right above the brake pedal.I will try to upload a pic of what im talking about in little bit. Again thanks for the response.

Here is the pics of what it looks like under the dash of my blazer and also some diagrams I have dug up as well. If these doesn't help I might be able to dig more diagrams up. When it comes to automotive work I don't understand all the terms and diagrams etc. Again thanks for all the help and your time.

Under the dash you would usually find some connectors or wires that are not connected to anything and this is normal. They are for some other accessories that are not installed onto your vehicle so you need not worry unnecessarily about them. Any wires that are used should be well insulated and secured.

For the brake lights staying on, check the brake switch. If the stopper for the brake switch is bad, it would not close the switch when pedal is released.

I believe that is what you should be looking at and stop worrying about additional wires not used.

Thanks for the response. I understand what your saying but these wires are the ones I posted in the pics I have uploaded. They have been cut and spliced. And when the previous owner yanked the wires out to remove the aftermarket stereo he left half of them just hanging, just like it shows in the pics that I uploaded. When I undid the remainder of the wires that was also spliced I forgot to write down the wires that was connected and what they were connected to, so therefore it wont even start because the wires are not connected to anything anymore because I am not sure on what wire goes where now> the reason for undoing the remainder of the wires that was spliced together was> to re-connect in a nice and neat organized way, so they were fully connected without possible shortages at some later date. So I am asking for advice on what color code from each end of the wiring harness connects to other end of harness, so that way I can have everything connected back up and in working order once again.

Thanks for your time,
Ricky

It is rather difficult to explain how to go about but if wires had been broken, the only way to go about is to look for the other end that is of the same color and size and join them up.

From the link that you have posted, the top few wire colors are what you have mentioned. They are linked to the ignition switch and should be going to the fuse box.

As to the other wires, if they are from the radio, then you should be looking at the radio wiring schematics. However the colors only match for a few wires and not all that you have described.
