95 Blazer A/C decompression

enter your question...So I just bought a 95' Blazer and drove it home (about 90 miles) without incident. However upon starting it later that day and putting it into reverse I got a hissing sound with bluish smoke coming from under the hood. I killed the engine and popped the hood and started it again. There was no smoke, however I did notice the A/C pulley starting and stopping intermittently.

I recharged the A/C myself, (pressure was at 0) and started the car. The pulley ran beautifully and I got cold air. I thought the problem was solved. However when I put it in reverse to back out again I got the hissing, the smoke, and the pulley starting and stopping. I popped the hood when it started but couldnt locate the leak.

Can anyone think of why it could be depressurizing when I put it in gear, (but runs fine when in park)?

Don't worry about what gear you are in, there is a leak in the A/C system. You need to recharge the system and add 1/4 oz. of UV dye. Run the system as much as you can until it stops working. Then you need to use a UV light and safety glasses to look for where the dye is leaking from. There are special yellow safety glasses designed for seeing the UV dye which may help you find the leak. Search every hose, the condenser, shrader valves, compressor, etc. for leaks. Let me know what you find.

The only thing i can think of is the engine gets torqued a certain way when put into reverse and cause something to leak.So i take when you charged up the a/c you didnt add any leak dye to the system.When ever you recharge a a/c system that is low or empty on charge atleast one of those recharge cans should have dye in it so you can find the leak if needed.You could have broken mount somewhere causing the motor to move enough to agravate a leak and make it leak worse.

If its leaking that bad you will see the dye without lights or glasses.
