When i apply brakes .there is a loud noise like air escaping from the brake petal. I have to apply a lot of foot pressure in order to stop vehicle.

It sounds like the brake booster is bad. What to do is have it vacuum tested to see if it holds pressure. Also, make sure the vacuum hose to it isn't damaged or disconnected.

Let me know what you find.

your power brake booster may be going bad or the valve going to the booster is bad. have a pro check it out for you. there should berebuilt or yours may be rebuildable.
