trans problem

I was at a stop sign and when i went to pull off the car jerked hard 3 times with a loud poping sound then it stopped i tried to pull off again and the car wouldnt move in either direction or when i put it in neutral. I had to get it towed but i noticed when it was going up on tha flat bed both wheels rolled then locked up .. I checked tha fluids they were full the trans never slipped before but i did hear the poping sound on the driver side wheel but the axle bar is still in place... So im lost and was wondering did anyone know what this is .. Thanks
