my 1995 buick park avenue has just started idling erratically and when i press on the gas it dies. please help

Was driving slow and all of a sudden the car dies out.upon restarting it idled erratically going between around 2500 down to about 500 rpm and almost cutting out completely. pressing on the gass causes it to die on out.
