If your still fully obd 1 compliant, check for mil codes. Also, some of the national brand autostores used to check codes for free.

There is a way to force the codes out with a paper clip. I am trying to find the obd 1 plug diagram. I know that I need to jump the upper Right hand to which other port. My car is running good now that the PCM was changed, but now have another "check engine soon light".

If that is a hybrid connector, I can't help you. You may have to take it to a shop or somebody that has the proper equipment to read codes.
