Fuel pump continues to run on 1995 Audi 90 sport after engine is turned off.

after I shut the car off the fuel pump continues to run and fuel injectors continue to make noise. I opened the fuse box and closed it and the fuel pump stopped running. What would cause this. The car does run but battery will go dead if the pump is allowed to continue running.

Check the fuel pump relay could be sticking
