Repair shop says my truuck has no powersteering pump. It has manual transmission. Is it possible there really is no power steering pump? It is real hard to turn, so I took it in for repair of pump...surprise....

yes, manual steering was standard at that time. Power steering is a common and popular option but there's nothing that says your truck has to have it. If it came with power steering and someone removed the pump, it will steer harder than a truck with manual steering. Power steering systems are designed to be more responsive but then they are harder to turn so the power assist is added.
