check engine light comes on and starts missing and jerking?

It sounds like you have a fuel injector that is shorting out. We should run the codes though because it could be the ignition ignitor. Here is a guide to help you:

You maybe able to remove the new spark plugs to see which one looks different from the rest this can tell you which cylinder is having the issue. You might what to do all of the injectors because of the age of the truck. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.
