I purchased this car about two months ago and had to replace the fuel pump on it already. The car just won't shift into any gears. I engage the clutch and try shifting, but it just sits there and revs like it was in neutral. The man from the towing service I called said it's probably the CV joints. How do I check if the CV joints are good or not, and what other problems could it possibly be?

I also forgot to add that in the higher gear (3-5) it makes an odd noise like something small is loose inside the transmission. I have no problems putting the car in gear, it just won't engage.
