re Suzuki Vitara water pump replacement

1994 Suzuki Vitara was idling at 1500rpms at neutral, Car overheated. Water pump replaced. Now radiator low in water reservoir full.Should i try replacement radiator cap/ Wondering why reservoir not going down and radiator using water after new pump

Are you you still overheating after the water pump replacement?

not overheated yet just temp gauge has gone up a third Shouldnt radiator show water to the top from reservoir after new pump? When it overheated before temp gauge didnt register high at all hence problem thanks

Check and test the thermostat and the engine coolant temperature sensor
