How do you replace the torque rods that hold up the trunk lid (with spoiler) on a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville?

Usually they just press on and off. They are on tight but a good pull should get them off. Not all of them work this way, (some of them bolt on) but most do.

It takes a screw driver and a little coaxing. On one clip work one side of the clip over the tang and then the other. THere is four clips(of course) if you must destroy it thats okay because the new ones come with new clip. They just push on to replace. If your installing a used part it will be very hard if not impossible to depress by hand. This is normal. New clips alone are available at the parts store.
