the warning light K comes on intemittantly when in traffic...what does this mean?

Something is on the edge of ailing . You should have the trouble codes pulled to see what the problem is. Sometimes local auto parts stores will pull the codes for free or a repair shop will sharge less than 15 minutes of labor to read the codes and they will give you and idea of the issue or the failing part.
