My 94 olds 88 3.8L keeps shredding the belt. Any Ideas?

First check that there isn't something stuck in the grooves of one/more of the pulleys. Then check that none of the pulleys are loose/wobbling. (turn them by hand) Also check the condition of the tensioner. Finally, when installing the new belt, make sure it isn't too tight/too loose.
