My car gets to a quarter of tank then starts to.

My car gets to a quarter of tank then starts to stutter like it`s out of gas. Im thinking there might be trash in the tank. The car runs great just this small problem with the stalling at a qtr tank. What can I do. Between the empty & qtr tank gadge is when the car starts acting. Up & when the gas was low I could hear the gas pump humming but then put ten dollars in it and it was good. Please help me with this (i hope to be a)small problem.
