It stalled, burned gas like crazy& gas smell was very strong wherever I drive it. I fllied it up& drove 6 miles .It burned 1/2 tank of gas. It runs but burn too much gas.I lost my trust in this mechanic & don't have $ to repair it. Please help me if you can?

Check the fuel lines for leakages. The fuel pump installation could have been done badly resulting in fuel leaks and any resultant drop in fuel pressure would affect the engine perfoprmance and fuel consumption.
