What would cause the car to keep breaking crank angle sensors?

It is not the vr4, i believe it is the sl. My dad knows his fair share of mechanics and has bought many cas's for this car, but can not seem to figure out the problem. Any ideas would help!

Possible wobble in dampner or thrust bearing worn allowing crank to move excessively
