I took the cap off the turn signal/wiper/washer lever. When I pulled out a large spring and plastic part, a smaller bronze spring came out. I cannot tell where the bronze spring goes. The wipers do not work.

The white plastic part has copper contacts. It fits over a stem along with the large spring. The copper spring is a few millimeters in diameter and about an inch or two long.

When they come apart you have to replace the switch. It is broken.

Six cylinder front wheel drive automatic 119,000 miles

the front windshield wipers do not work at all. What should I check and fix? I have replaced the fuse already that did not work.
