My 1994 Mercedes Benz SL500 will not start. It has less than 35000 original miles, new battery, and new fuses. I have disconnected the battery to reset the anti theft device. I have made sure all doors, trunk and hood and gas cap are closed properly. Then I locked the car, waited a couple minutes and unlocked the car. All lights on dash come on but car won't turn over.

The security light is not on and does not flash. I have a multimeter that I used to check fuses prior to replacing them.

I don't know. It started yesterday and now it won't. A local Mercedes Benz mechanic told me that it was a bad fuse. I don't know where the fuse is located that controls the ignition.

Check to make sure you are getting power to the injectors. You will need a noid light to do that. Most parts stores will lend them to you.

2006 Mercedes 500S - it is below freezing outside and the car won't start - could it be that there is ice in the exhaust - or could it be the battery even though the key works and lights go on. Car regularly serviced with no problems - Do you think this has to do wth he extreme cold?

Thanks for responding. I had a new battery put in by the dealership last March (it is less than a year old). When the old battery required a jump, the smart key wouldn't work. Since the key works and lights go on, I don't think it is the battery. Since the car has been regularly serviced, I can only surmise that the cold weather is affecting something ( it is 3 degrees out). And - of course - I cannot afford to take it to the Dealer anymore. Any hope that it might start when the weather gets warmer? Thanks again.

There are several possibilities Ignition switch, starter lockout relay, starter solenoid/motor and shift lockout switch. So to find out need to place a volt meter or test light on the starter solenoid ignition terminal turn key to see if voltage is present. Also place shifter in neutral try and start.
Let me know

I own a 1991 Mercedes-Benz sl500 and ive recently got it running after much effort. Whenever I turn the key the engine turns over with no problem but it doesnt start every time. Most of the time I have to use ether to get it started. Once its started whenever I try to race the engine is dies down and makes a continuous popping sound and if I dont release the gas it with stall. Please help :(
