I ran through a large puddle last night and I checked the distributor it's dry as a bone but its not getting spark I don't know what's going on

How are you expecting to have spark if the engine won't crank? Are there any other clues or observations like dim head lights, a single, rather loud clunk from the starter each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank", etc.?
