The van has a battery under 3 months old. Upon attempting to start, I notice that the instrument panel lights are on, fire at the battery poles, a am not able to even hear any sounds when I turn the ignition key on in my attempt to start the engine.

The battery terminals are loose and you should clean and retighten them. Terminals might require replacement if you cannot tighten them correctly.
