Charging rate seems to be ok. Codes are also fine. No indication from mil. So what could cause the automatic gearbox to refuse to change to top and make other gear changes so harsh in my?

Does it shift harsh with every gear upshift or only between specific gears?

When was the trans fluid last replaced?

A bad valve body is the main cause for harsh shifting. Some solenoids don't throw a code when they are lazy.
