transmission failure icon warning light

when i accelerate from a stoplight or while driving at 35to 40 vehicle feels like maybe the parking brake is engaged and is hesitate to acheiving normal acceleration.transmission warning light had come on in the past while i was purring speeds of 79 to81 in {sports mode}and go back off after a few minutes and never affected the perfomance of car.i would appreciate if any Jag oldtimers or someone with sound concrete advise could tip me on why that (Limp Drive Mode)is engaged and what can i do to rectify until i get it to my mechanic shop for analyis.thxx a lot for reviewing my ?

Check transmission fluid level and condition. Check fluid pressure.
