Last summer we put a battery in it and it fried a 60A fusible link in the fuse box next to the battery. We used needle nose pliers to test and figure out what was going on. It sparks a lot and we got the engine to turn. Only thing that worked was the horn and headlights. So now we are working on it again. When we touch it with the pliers it still sparks like crazy. We no longer can get the engine to turn. I tested the starter and it does work. Still nothing works except the horn and headlight. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

check to make sure no battery cables have burned through I am assuming 60A fuse is still good ifnot replace it. check all fuses and starter relay if an automatic. also check neutral switch. you have a dead short someplace and need to follow cables or any wire connected to battery to see where it is touching. with this truck due to age that can happen. try wiggling harness in different spots to find short. I fyo keep blowing fuse use a circuit breaker so it will kick back on

Thanks! The fuse was no longer good and it kept blowing new ones so we are using one of the old ones and connecting it with needle nose pliers to test it unt it stops arcing like it is. I am not one that knows much about electrical systems in vehicles. What should I look for to find a shorted wire or a crossed wire or anything like that?

Also, could a safety switch be stuck which is causing the circuit to be stuck?

you look for bare wires or wires rubbed through. using pliers is the wrong way to do this. if you don't know much about electrical then have a pro do it. a stuck switch would allow the motor to turn over which it is not. it could be shorted out however. you really should have apro do this as to not burn the truck up as that is a real possibility in your case.
