why does it do this

car runs good going down the road but dies and is hard to start when you try to accellarate from a dead stop

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Fuel pump pressure? Has the check engine light come on?

check engine light has not been on and it does work but i dont know about the fuel pump wouldnt it actup driveing down the road?

It may not be producing enough pressure. When you accellerate, the fuel may not be there causing the engine to die.
