94 Ford Tempo automatic sometimes when I attempt to start the car it seems like it has no electric power. I learned that if I move the gear selector back and forth the power will come back on and im able to start the car. The car also dies during operation with the same type of symptoms. All the power goes out the engion dies. I have to move the gear selector back and forth to get the power to come back on. No fun on the highway.

your symptoms indicate a problem with the neutral safety switch on transmission shift arm. it may be the switch itself or the connector plug has corrosion on contacts(looks greenish). you could also have a faulty ignition switch. not he key part but the electrical part down lower on steering column.
