My fuel cut off light came on in my 94 ford taurus whats wrong? I tried resetting the fuel shutoff switch

The battery is dead but i charged it and now i cant hear the fuel pump energizing

Check the fuel pump relay, it's on the back side of the engine bay, near the center of the bulkhead. Check the fuel pump fuse.
