1994 Ford Ranger Runs Great Once While Check Oil Light Comes On Only Way Start

i have a 1994 ford ranger it runs great but once in a while the check oil light comes on and the only way to start it is to put little oil in and when i look at the dip stick it is still in the good zone but it wont start and when i put a little in it starts and the light shuts off i was wondering if it is a sensor for the oil or something else going on

There is an oil level sensor that must be loose or failing. It is in the oil pan so you would have to remove it to get to it. It must really be loose and think the level in near critical to shut the engine down.
