I have the car listed above (GT model) that has just recently started stalling after driving or idling for a while. I've already changed the plugs and replaced the fuel pump with no change in behavior. From a cold start the engine starts and runs fine. Once you drive it for a bit (like a minute or so) or just leave it idling for a couple of minutes the car will stall. The first time is stalls you can start it right back up and keep going. As the car warms up more it becomes increasingly more difficult to actually drive without stalling. It always will start up though.

Good morning,

This could be a distributor issue. It was a very common failure for this issue back in the day.

Does it start right back up after it shuts off?

That would eliminate a fuel delivery issue. That would point directly to a spark issue.

Thanks a bunch for your reply. I looked at the image uploads with the distributor diagrams. Any suggestions on troubleshooting steps? Or other resources that may point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Aside from verifying power to the distributor, you would need a scope to monitor the signals to the ECM.

Do you have a scope?

I do not. Is it something I could buy or am I better off taking it to a shop you think?

It is much cheaper for you to have someone check it for you.

Solved: Just wanted to post an update here. The issue was solved by replacing the distributor. All good now.
