I have a 94 ford escort. The clutch does not offer any resistance and I cannot shift. I can pump the clutch and it seems to build up pressure enabling me to shift. Is this a clutch cylinder problem?

Kinda sounds like there is air in the system. It's possible that the piston within the Clutch Master Cylinder/ or the Slave Cylinder is letting fluid slip past (this would be internal, no leaks would happen). Have you noticed any leaks or oily spots under or on the clutch components? Is the reservoir up to the proper level? The system may just need bleeding, or more involved, Repair/ Replacement of the Clutch Master Cylinder or the Slave Cylinder. Keep me informed, I hope it is simple!---The Medic
