I know little about your car, my sister had a '82, I had to constantly repair. I'm into Jeep CJs, which also use a Ford Type starting system.

I just went to Advance Auto and Autozone Online--using the info from the top of your post. I went there to see what your starter and relay looked like.I cannot find a Mustang (lx) w/ a 2.3?

When the vehicle is started, does the starter gear "Hang Up" on the flywheel (like you are still trying to crank it") And stays "Hung Up" when you start driving?

As far as wire diagram--can you please give or verify your cars information, before I go on a wild goose chase looking for it?

I'm not trained with the resource, and it takes me a while to find what I want. But I will look, if you will verify or correct the info at the top (thanks)

Are you thinkin' that you have crossed some wires? Or do you think something is wrong in the system that you have not messed with?

Any other History or surprises that we should know about?

The cool thing here is the other Expert Fellers can jump in an assist you too. What a Deal!
