Repacing the IAC valve. With the ignition on, neither the old or the new valve works. Is it supposed to?

Car has intermittent stalling problems. Only when warm. Had mechanic check-said it was possible maf sensor. They cleaned old one. worked for 3 days. Bought used from junk yard. worked for 6 days. started stalling again. Bought new iac valve. according to your instructions, turned ignition to "on". neither the old or new one will work. Could I have a bad new one?

Yes, possibly. Could also be a bad electrical connection.
