I have a 1994 silverado with a 350 engine and auto trans. It has a 3.42 axle ratio which is rated to tow about 5000 lbs. What i would like to do is change the gearing so it could tow around 7500. Is there any way to know what ratio i need? I dont want to go any lower than i need to.

you could probably go to a 3.73 but you'll need to put the hitch that you need for it as well.
