1994 Chevrolet Truck engine problems

I just got this truck recently and it was running fine besides smokes a little bit but nowit started using gas losing power and backfiring out of the carburetor

Scan for codes first then check for a bad dist cap/coil wire and for cracked coil. It may be the dist gear is worn out as well so check for play in rotor there shouldn't be any unless you have a vacuum advance which you shouldn't
