my blazer sounds as if she wants to cut out and i smell gas.

i have a 94 chevy blazer with a vortech engine, i justr recently purchased her and on the way home i ran out of gas right around the corner from my house, so i restarted her and got her home as a result i had to change the fuel filter because i guess i clogged it with empty tank build up, well she ran great after that but just the other day she started doing the same thing but not as bad and is giving off a strong smell of gas, what could it be? do you think i mioght have to change the fuel filter again?

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs-pressure should be 60-66 psi-spider unit could be leaking
