Sorry you had to lower yourself to working on a Chevy! For repeated breaking belts, first look at how it broke. If it's shredded on one side, look for a pulley that's turned or tipped. That will cause the belt to run against one side of the next pulley. You can often see that by sighting down from on top through all of them. The belt should not be peeking out even 1/16" on any pulley.
If the belt snapped cleanly, that is due to something locking up intermittently. By far the most common cause on GM vehicles '87 and newer is the generator. Don't even bother trying to fix it with new bearings. It's a nightmare to get apart and even if you do, you'll usually destroy the diode block. By the time you're done you'll have more in it than if you just bought a rebuilt unit with a warranty.
