car got hot as i was pulling into my driveway. I shut it off let it cool and added coolant. Now it wont start, it turns over and sometimes acts like it is going to fire off but doesn't. I checked plugs and wires and disconnected the battery put battery cables back on and it still wont start. What else could I try.

Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Also, check for injector pulse. If all that checks out, check cylinder compression.
